Obituary of Ernest R. Gollenberg, Jr.

Ernest R. "Tex" Gollenberg, Jr., age 85, of Fairfield passed away peacefully on Monday, August 22, 2016 at the Jewish Senior Services, Fairfield. Born in Bridgeport on April 30, 1931, he was the son of the late Ernest R. and Mary DeClemente Gollenberg, Sr. He had worked with his father at the Hi-Low Package Store, formerly of Bridgeport before eventually taking over and running the business himself. He also loved horseback riding and was a talented trick rider at various rodeos. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his daughters, Sheila Chambers of Stratford and Kit Johnson and her husband Bob of Florida, three grandchildren, Deana, Robert and Jeffrey and a great granddaughter, Gemma. He is also survived by his sister, Dolores Zawadski and her companion Carmen Ricca of Fairfield. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a sister, Barbara Jungmann. All funeral services and burial were held privately. The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull was in charge of the arrangements.
