Obituary of Philip A. Rich
Philip A. Rich, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2016 at the age of 90. Philip was a lifelong resident of Connecticut, living in Bridgeport and Shelton prior to becoming a resident of the Lord Chamberlain Nursing Home. He loved golf and was an avid New York Yankee fan. As a young man, Philip worked at Rich's Ice Cream Parlor, a family business in Bridgeport. He later became a machinist and worked for Chance Vought, Cooper Weymouth, and retired from the U.S. Baird Corp. in 1990. For a brief period Philip was the full time bartender at the Jolly Fisherman Restaurant in Norwalk, CT, a job he truly loved because of the light hearted atmosphere and his daily interaction with the restaurant's clientele.
Philip was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Filomena (Phyliss) Romano Rich, 2 sisters, Sally Sobolewski and Bridget Nagy, and a brother, Prospero (Pat) Rich. He is survived by his son, Anthony Rich and his wife Roseann of Stratford, 2 granddaughters, Holly Urban and her husband Christopher of Auburn NH, and Nicole Putorak and her husband Brian of Stratford. He is also survived by a great grandson, Christopher John (CJ) Urban of Auburn, NH.
Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Joseph's Church 50 Fairmont Pl. Shelton, CT 06484, or online at sjcshelton.org. Arrangements entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
