Obituary of Rafael A. Vargas, Jr.

Rafael "Rafy" A. Vargas Jr., age 16, beloved son of Rafael Sr. and Sonia Flores Vargas of Bridgeport, passed away at home on Monday, July 18, 2016 after fighting a very courageous battle. He was born in Bridgeport on November 20, 1999. Rafy attended Bridge Academy in Bridgeport and just completed his junior year. He enjoyed reading and writing, watching his TV shows, being outdoors and was very adventurous. He had a great sense of humor, often playing jokes on his family and friends. He truly enjoyed making everyone laugh. Rafael was very religious and his love of God was very evident. In addition to his parents, survivors include his brother, Matthew Vargas and sister, Amanda Vargas, his grandmother, Luz Flores, his grandmother #2, Luz Garcia, all of Bridgeport and many aunts, uncles and cousins as well as his dogs, Pinto and Chico. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Heriberto Flores and Justina Marquez and paternal grandparents, Hilario Vargas and Amelia Reillo. The family would like to thank all the kind and caring people Rafael met throughout his journey. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Mary Church, 25 Sherman St., Bridgeport on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made for cancer research to St. Baldrick's Foundation, 1333 South Mayflower Ave., Monrovia, CA 91016.
