I'm so sorry to hear about Mr. U's passing. He was my 8th grade teacher at St. Michael's. He was kind, encouraging, and treated us not as kids or adults but something in-between, which is what we were. He was always so positive and believed in us. I can barely remember yesterday but I can remember days in his class like they were yesterday. Rest in peace, Mr. U., you made such a difference in this world.

I went searching for fellow Seabee veterans of MCB-40 in Chu Lai, Vietnam and am shocked (4 years after the fact) to learn of Bob's passing. Bob was a very fine man and he was well liked and respected by his fellow Seabees. We did not, sadly. keep in touch over the years, but none the less, I offer my condolences to his family, friends and students. Bob and I worked together and lived in the same hut in Vietnam, so at the time, I knew him well. I'm sure that Bob never forgot (nor have I) the 1968 Tet Offensive in Vietnam. The Viet Cong lobbed a rocket into the ammo supply depot (1/4 mile from our camp) which lit off over 5,000 of our own 250 and 500 lb. bombs. I was in the mortar pit next to our hut, along with Bob and others, when the orange flames went up and mushroomed a mile or so in the air. What they say is true.......there are no atheists in a foxhole! May kind hearted Bob rest in peace.

I was saddened to hear of your passing... U were my favorite teacher in Saint Michael's school and it was a great bike ride when I rode to Trumbull to visit you at your in the store that you worked in at the mall (Trumbull Shopping Center). You will be greatly missed by all whose lives you touched. RIP Mr. U Richard Szamotula

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I remember "Mr U" from St. Michael's School where he was my 8th grade home room teacher. He taught me more than history. He believed in me and encouraged me like no other teacher ever did. 8th grade was a very long time ago but I will never forget him.

I was very shocked to hear of Roberts passing.Robert or "Mr. U" as he was loving called by his students at St Michaels School in Bridgeport, was a wonderful teacher who gave every one of his students his full attention. I was a parent at St Michaels from 1982 until it closed in 1990, and both my children knew "Mr. U" but only my son had the great opportunity to have him as his teacher. I was surprised that his time at St. Michaels was not mentioned. My deepest condolences to the family.

We were so sorry to hear about Uncle Bob's passing. Although we never met him, we knew him through Mike and Donna's shared stories about him.
