David M. Jacobson, age 83, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 at St. Vincent's Medical Center of Bridgeport, CT. He was the beloved husband of the late Jean P. Harris Jacobson. Born in Pawtucket, RI on May 15, 1932, he was a son of the late Jacob and Adele Schreiber Jacobson and was raised between West Hartford and New York City. David and Jean were longtime residents of Wilton, where they raised their family.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving children, Mark H. Jacobson and his partner Nancy Shaw of New York, NY, Susannah Gobbi and her husband Lee of Easton, CT, and Victoria Barr and her husband Steve of Aztec, NM, three cherished grandchildren, Owen and Lucinda Jacobson, Julian Gobbi, a step grandchild, Oscar Shaw, a nephew, Gary Jacobson of Norwalk, and two nieces, Sara Kozlowski of FL and Michelle Rose of NY. He was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Ellis and Gladys Jacobson.
He was an accomplished, award winning film producer/director having made promotional films for many major corporations such as Pfizer, PepsiCo, and the US Military. He is noted for his ground-breaking work in the interactive video field. His most recent project was a collaboration with the late comics, Bob Elliot and Ray Goulding, restoring a previously unreleased vintage performance that he had directed along with a compilation of their many performances on The Tonight Show.
He served in the US Army on Okinawa during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he was graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in History. Upon graduation, he moved to New York City to work for John Bransby, a film producer he had previously worked for as a summer job.
