Obituary of Josephine Adele Piazza

Josephine Adele (Lopresti) Piazza, a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 11, 2016. She was born to Giuseppe and Anna (Dolcimascolo) Lopresti on January 20, 1916. After graduating JoAnn School of Beauty Culture and Bridgeport Hairdressing School, she worked at a number of beauty salons. In 1953 she opened her own salon, "Jo" Piazza's Beauty Salon which she operated until her retirement in 1984. Josephine was a communicant of St. Andrew's Church in Bridgeport. She was recently honored on her 100th birthday with a dinner party attended by her family. She was predeceased by her beloved spouse of 54 years, Joseph B. Piazza and by her sister, Frances Cappozzoli and brother, Joseph V. Lopresti. Josephine is survived by her sister, Concetta (Kay) D'Elia and brother, Thomas Lopresti and sister-in-law, Josephine Lopresti, her daughters, Joan M. (Piazza) Oros and her husband William M. Oros Sr. and Anna F. Piazza-Harper and her husband Wren J. Harper Jr., four grandchildren, Joseph Oros and his wife Karen, William M. Oros Jr. and his wife Courtney, Jonathan J. Piazza- Harper, Carlyann Piazza-Harper, great granddaughters, Megan, Lauren and Allison Oros and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
