Obituary of Don G. Darling
Don G. Darling, age 76, of Stratford, beloved husband of Esther Costa Darling, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 20, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Gary, IN on March 3, 1939, he was a son of the late Bert L. and Julia Nesselhoff Darling. A U.S. Navy veteran specializing in Interior Communications, Don was later employed by U.S. Surgical, where he worked as an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor before his retirement with several years of dedicated service. He also worked in the Maintenance Department for the Trumbull Senior Center where he built many lasting relationships. An avid bowler and classic car enthusiast, Don looked forward to participating in the Barnum Parade and its festivities. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his beloved wife of 53 years, Esther, other survivors include two loving daughters, Kathryn Darling of Stratford and Karyn Lenahan and her husband James of Trumbull, four cherished grandchildren, Carolyn Kay and Daniel, Thomas and Jake Lenahan, his brothers, Bert L. Darling, Jr and Richard Darling and his wife Judy, both of IN and his sisters, Julie Strickland and Lynn Darling, also both of IN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his three brothers, Thomas and Russell Darling and John Schulp.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Nichols Village Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
