Two years too late as I suspect no one will see this condolence. In 1945 and 1946 I was a secondary player on the Central High School football game. While I remember lou as being naturally a very friendly person, I mostly remember his friendship with me since I was the only Jewish player on the team. While I never really experienced any outright anti-semitism with other player aside from the usual joking with those well known other words for Jewish, Lou was above that. He asked me about various aspects, mostly traditions, of the religion. He made me feel comfortable. I never forgot that. He was just a good guy. RIP

On behalf of the entire 'Bruno' family, we wish to express our sincere condolence. 'Lou's guidance as well as leadership, paved the way for many ,who went on to serve in the tradition and honor he stewarded. as a younger official, he often assisted us in understanding the importance of guidance, professionalism, trust, and loyalty. The association, he presented to 'all' of us, transcended duty. Thanks 'Lou', and the 'Saccone' family for your dedicated sacrifice ,of his time. Regards Ken, and Charlie Bruno, and family.

Lou Saccone, my high school football coach passed away this week. He only coached me one year but the impact he had lasted a life time.
Coming off a state champion season in 1964 it was a rebuilding of the 1965 team.
After three losses he called me up as a sophomore backfield to to run the offense. I quarterbacked that team and we went on to finish 8-4 for the season.
Coach Saccone helped me understand that you don't need to fear change because the results can be satisfying. Those on that team will remember the Sleeping Giant Speech he gave that was the start of our winning streak. He was a giant among men! Tom Heyse Quarterback 1965-67 season

Lou was my teacher 54 years ago. He was always interesting and easy to understand..
He taught us more than classroom subjects. He taught us to think, and use our brains and God given ability to cope with and handle lifes ups and downs. I had the distinct pleasure of being his neighbor for the last 14 years. shared memories, and got out to lunch with friends , classmates, and some of his grateful players. The reaction I have received from his players and past students has been overwhelming. Not only was he
a great teacher, coach, husband, father, grandfather, and friend; He was in his day, the mmid 1940's thru the 1950's a legend on the playing field in 5 different sports. First 5 letter man at Central High and Arnold College( Univ of Bpt) Footnall, Basketball, Bbaseball, Track, and Golf. Not only did he play each sport, he excelled at each of them.
Enshrined in the Bridgeport Oldtmers Hall of Fame and recipient of countless awards for his athletic and coaching ability.
Our deepest sympathy to Lou's bride of 54 hears Sylvia, and his 5 children and grandchildren and the rest of his family. This is the loss of a legend.

My grandfather, Dr Herb Glines, coached him at UB, they remained friends or the years.. You could not have a visit with my Grandfather, without hearing at least one "Iron Horse" story. On the basketball court, golf corse, or on the mountains, he had a story about how amazing the "Iron Horse" was...
I only had the honor to meet him once, he was the referee for one of my football games.. He introduced him self and told me, what a great man my grandfather was... You were correct Lou, he was a great man, and he also was one of the original members of the "Iron Horse Fan Club"
