Obituary of Antonio Jose Araujo Rodrigues

Antonio Jose Araujo Rodrigues, age 86, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Maria do Ceu Goncalves, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2015 at St. Vincent Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 19, 1928 in Soutelo, Vila Verde, Portugal, he was a son of the late Manuel Joaquim Rodrigues and Teresa de Araujo Rodrigues. Antonio came to the United States in 1988 and settled in Bridgeport. He was retired mason for E & H Construction. He was an avid soccer fan and was a loyal follower of his team F.C. Porto. Antonio was a hardworking man who loved and cared for his family deeply. He was a dedicated father, grandfather and great grandfather whose memory and family values will continue to live on through his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his nine loving and devoted children, Jose Maria Rodrigues and his wife Ana, Maria das Dores Jantarada and her husband Alfredo, Diamantino Rodrigues and his wife Jesus, Teresa Gomes and her husband Antonio Jose, Rui Rodrigues and his wife Marisol, Elisa Fernandes and her husband Albino, Susana Ribeiro and her husband Rogerio, Eliseu Rodrigues and his wife Irene and Herculano Rodrigues. He also leaves to cherish his memory, 20 cherished grandchildren and 10 adored great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends can greet the family on Monday, January 12, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will take place in Sanhoane Cemetery, Sanhoane, Mogadouro, Portugal. A prayer service will take place at 5 pm on Monday in the funeral home with Rev. Jose Alves officiating.
