Uncle Vic had a tender heart and tears came easily when he was moved. One might say that two of his trademarks were his tears at times and that million dollar grin that brightened rooms when he entered.
He was also a generous and thoughtful man. As difficult as it is to remember the birthdays of nieces and nephews, Uncle Vic always remembered when we were children and he phoned and sometimes sent gifts.
The Christian faith of his sister Anne was one strong influence in his decision to believe in Jesus Christ. He was quite dogmatic about his specific beliefs but that is not unlike thousands of other believers.
I did not know of some of the other very worthy causes he espoused publicly as mentioned in his obituary, but am not surprised because he always wanted to right wrongs.
