Obituary of Andrew N. Dolyak

Resident of Trumbull Andrew N. Dolyak, age 84, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Kathryn Molloy Dolyak, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 in St. Vincents Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in the East End of Bridgeport on December 2, 1928, he was a son of the late Paul and Julia Efchak Dolyak, the youngest of eleven children. He graduated from Harding High School where he lettered in baseball in 1945 and 1946. Over the years, he excelled in baseball as well as fast and slow pitch softball. He played in many leagues and tournaments with a variety of teams. Andy was a firefighter with the City of Bridgeport, retiring in 1987 after 29 years of faithful service. He served as president of the Greater Bridgeport Athletic Association from 2002-2005 and later on their Board of Directors and the Ads Program Committee. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Kay of 52 years, survivors include two daughters, Julie Aliberti and her husband Dean of Milford and Kathy Ryan and her husband Mark of Trumbull, six grandchildren, Dale, Lauren, Jack, Mary Kate, Bridget and Jillian, special nieces and nephews, Gus Jarosko, Teecia Sorrentino, Carole Krochta, Richard Dolyak and Elizabeth Hetherington, as well as several other nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by ten brothers and sisters. Funeral Information PLEASE NOTE: Due to inclement weather, services have been changed as follows: Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd., Trumbull on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12 at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
