Laura DiPietro

Obituary of Laura DiPietro

Laura Maria (Giammarco) DiPietro, age 68, of Bridgeport, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, August 25, 2007 in her home, surrounded by her beloved family. Born in Introdacqua, Province of Aquilia, Italy on December 17, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Vincenzo Giammarco and stepdaughter of Antonio D'Andrea and also predeceased by her loving baby brother, Domenico Giammarco and step brother Paul D'Andrea.

Laura was a Bridgeport resident since 1956 and retired from the Bridgeport Webb Company and the Jewish Home for the Elderly. Along with her husband, she loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Laura was a member of the St. Raphael Parish which she attended weekly with her family. She enjoyed listening to her great collection of Italian music and the Italian House Party on Sunday. Laura will be remembered as a precious and caring grandmother and she always loved her grandchildren by her side. She was an example of strength fighting cancer over four years. Lauras determination allowed her to visit her hometown in Italy with her entire family last summer, and the chance to show her grandchildren where she was raised was a wonderful experience for her.

Survivors include her beloved mother, Rosina D'Andrea of Bridgeport, her devoted and always caring husband, Emanuele DiPietro, her three loving daughters, Michele DiPietro of Bridgeport, Roseann Sutay and her husband Robert of Oxford and Ann Marie Brown and her husband Collier of Bridgeport, three very precious grandchildren, Christopher and Jeffrey Sutay and Wilfred Villanova. She is also survived by a stepbrother, Anthony D'Andrea and Violetta Ayalon of Congers, NY, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Raphael Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
