Obituary of Douglass S. Youd

U. S. Navy Veteran Douglass S. Youd, Jr., age 79, of Shelton, beloved husband of Phyllis Cavalieri Youd, died on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bridgeport on May 29, 1932, he was a son of the late Douglass S. Sr. and Sarah Hunt Youd. A U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, he earned an Associates degree in Engineering from Norwalk Community College. Mr. Youd retired from Avco Lycoming with 35 years of service as a Research and Development Engineer. An avid sailor, he was a member of the Housatonic Boat Club. In addition to Phyllis, his wife of 55 years, survivors include four children, Douglass Youd and his wife Joanne, John Youd and his wife Michelle, Theresa Youd and Kenneth Youd and his wife Diane, nine grandchildren, Melissa, Cynthia, Sydney, Bianca, Michael, Taylor, Jenna, Tricia and Joel, two brothers, Harold Youd and his wife Uri and Paul Youd and his wife Sheila as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
