Obituary of Marilyn J. Varone

Marilyn Visciglia Varone, age 82, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of Lawrence J. Varone Sr., passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2014 in St. Vincents Medical Center, with her loving family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on October 9, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Frances Thornill Visciglia Sr. A graduate of Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing, Marilyn was an employee for the City of Bridgeport Public Health Department, with over 25 years of dedicated service and was also a member of Local 1199. In her younger years she enjoyed attending and coaching her children in various sporting events and was a basketball coach at St. Andrews School for many years. An avid sports fan, Marilyn enjoyed watching all sports, especially the UCONN Huskies, New York Giants and Boston Celtics. But above all else she was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved when the family was all together and the memories will forever live on through her family. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to Larry, her devoted husband of 62 years, survivors include three loving children, Andrea Kosinski and her husband Michael of CA, Lawrence J. Varone Jr. of Bridgeport and Lisa Pelazza and her husband Michael of Stamford, six cherished grandchildren, Samantha Jo Kosinski, Nikki Lee Pelazza, Zackery Alexander Kosinski, Ashley Marie Pelazza, Lorenzo Roland Varone and Haley Jordan Kosinski, and an adored great grandson, Tristan Michael Pelazza, nephews, R. J. and John Visciglia as well as several additional nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Robert John Visciglia Sr. and Patrick Francis Visciglia and a nephew, Patrick Visciglia. 

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will be private. Relatives and friends can greet the family on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
