Obituary of Hector Daniel Torres

Hector Daniel Torres, age 65, entered into eternal rest on Saturday January 23, 2010 at home with his loving wife Mary and daughter Natalie at his side after a brief and courageous battle with liver cancer. Born in Villalba, Puerto Rico, he was a son of Daniel Torres of Florida and the late Santos Torres and was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. A Vietnam Veteran, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. An employee of CTG Corp of Poughkeepsie, NY, he was an electronics technician for IBM. He was also formerly employed by Data Switch/ General Signal Corp in Shelton for over 16 years. An active member of St. Andrew Parish in Bridgeport, Hector was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Frances X Cabrini Council 4096, having served as a past Grand Knight. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, love of travel and electronics, and his devotion to his family. His compassion and willingness to help anyone; family, friend, neighbor, coworker or stranger will never be forgotten. Hectors love of westerns, 50s music, humor and perfectionism is only a small part of his legacy to his daughter Natalie. He was also pre-deceased by a brother Wilson. In addition to his devoted wife and daughter, and his father, survivors include, a sister, Taty Stevens, three brothers, David, Edwin and Jesus Torres, a daughter, Marilyn Pagan, two grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary and Natalie would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Veterans Hospital of West Haven as well as Nurse Nancy and all the staff at CT Hospice, Shelton for their unending support and assistance during this very difficult time. A special thank you is extended for the prayers, phone calls, letters, cards, flowers and visits. It humbled Hector to see the gracious outpouring of love bestowed on such a gentle man. The power to love is Gods greatest gift to man. For it will never be taken from the Blessed One who loves (Kahlil Gibran) Hector loved and will be loved always. He will be truly missed by his beloved wife Mary Lou DeFeo and his daughter Natalie Rose. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Andrew Church 435 Anton St., Bridgeport on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Andrew Church until the time of Mass. Funeral Information Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
