Obituary of Robert C. Stepler
Former Trumbull Resident
Robert C. Stepler, 93, of Acton, MA, a former resident of Trumbull, CT for over 50 years, died Friday, November 30, 2012 at the Westford House. Born and raised in Stratford, CT., he was the son of the late John M. and Nellie (Callahan) Stepler. He settled with his wife, Mary (Salamon) Stepler in Trumbull where he was an active member at St. Theresa Parish, ushering the early morning Mass on Sundays. Mechanically minded, Mr. Stepler was a machinist at Bullard Machine Tool in Bridgeport, CT for over 25 years. For over ten years following his retirement, he worked part-time at the local hardware store in Trumbull. He enjoyed working in his yard and auto repair, but he especially loved to build things, including elaborate model train sets. He loved his family, and particularly looked forward to spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He moved to the Acton 5 years ago to be closer to his family.
Mr. Stepler was predeceased by his wife, Mary; a daughter Janet Guzzardi; a grandson David Guzzardi; and a brother Walter Stepler. He is survived by his grandson, Richard Guzzardi and his wife, Karen, of Boxborough, MA and their children, Matthew and Caroline. Funeral Information
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, December 5th from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Mass Ave. (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 89 Arlington St., Acton, MA. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 8th at 11:30 a.m. in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Donations Information
