Obituary of Angelo Silano

Angelo Silano, age 82, of Bridgeport, a retired mason for the Laborers Union and several area contractors, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 in St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Flumeri, Province of Avellino, Italy on July 26, 1921, he was a son of the late John and Jennie Silano. A veteran of the Italian Army during World War II, Mr. Silano was a prisoner of war for over three years in a German Concentration Camp. He came to the U. S. in 1954 settling in Bridgeport and was an avid gardener.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Lanza Silano of Bridgeport, four sons, John Silano of Huntington, Anthony Silano and his wife, Aurora of Oxford, Pasquale Silano and his wife, Francine of Bridgeport and Peter Silano and his wife, Marie of Milford, a brother, Pietro Silano of Trumbull, two sisters, Tina Silano of Shelton and Rose Valentino of Trumbull, 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by sisters, Phyllis Silano and Carmella Carmalingo.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 30, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Augustine's Cathedral, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
