Obituary of Liberata Sementilli

Bridgeport Resident Liberata Nicolina Anna Lisi Sementilli went to the angels on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Noon after a brief bout with cancer at Hartford Hospital. She was born to Rosa and Lazaro Lisi in Boville Ernica, Italy on September 3, 1926. She was the widow of Pio G. Sementilli. Together, they migrated to the United States in 1954, after surviving World War II and Nazi Occupation. Liberata was a farmer in Strangolagalli, Italy and came to the U. S. on the SS Andrea Doria ocean liner, two years before it sank. Liberata lived in Bridgeport from 1954-2010 and was an active member of St. Raphael St. Margaret R.C. Parish. Liberata was accomplished in la cucina ciociara and baking. In Bridgeport, she worked as an ILGWU seamstress at Leila and Rose Dress. She had a lifetime commitment to peace. Liberata was the beloved mother of Philip and his wife, Carol of Trumbull, Mario, and Lisa P. Sementilli, both of West Hartford; the loving grandmother of five radiant beings; Vincent and his wife, Shelly, Christopher and his wife, Sabrina, Paulette and her husband, Todd, Damon Sementilli and his fiancee, Jessica and Ruby Julien B. Dann. Liberata also had seven beautiful great grandchildren: Vincent, Andrew, Domenic, Emilia and Sonia Sementilli, as well as Eden and Michael Cooper Shipley. Liberata is also survived by her sister, Annunziata Verrelli and her husband Bartolomeo and brother, Enrico Lisi and his wife Annunziata, in addition to many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. She was pre-deceased by two beloved brothers Elio and Antonio. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margarets Shrine, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
