Obituary of Edward J. Peters

Edward J. Peters Jr. age 76, of Huntington, a retired employee of J.R. Merrit, died on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. Born in Kingston, PA on November 10, 1932, he was a son of the late Edward J. Sr. and Anne Daniels Peters.

A U.S. Army Veteran, Edward recently received a war time service medal. Mr. Peters always put the needs of his family before his own; he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Edward was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed help, he never said no. He was also a licensed pilot who enjoyed building and flying home built airplanes. Edward was also an active member of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association).

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Shirley Schaefer Peters, two sons, David E. Peters and his fiance Maggie Cassidy of Trumbull and Mark E. Peters and his wife Jennifer of Canton, GA, a brother Raymond Peters and his wife Marcha and a sister Carole Deering and her husband Raymond, all of PA., seven grandchildren, Mitchell, Natalie, Sarah, Michelle, Melissa, Peter and Ralph and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Lawn Cemetery, Shelton. Friends and relatives may call on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.
