Obituary of Amerigo Pagliaroli

Amerigo Pagliaroli, age 77, of Trumbull, a retired employee of Remington Arms Co. and Moore Special Tool Co., Bridgeport, CT, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. Born in Veroli, Province of Frosinone, Italy on October 5, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Maria Viselli Pagliaroli. He was a Korean War era veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Ulm, Germany. While in the army, he won the Featherweight division Vienna Command Invitational Boxing Tournament trophy in January 1955. Amerigo, a life-long trap shooter and lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the Amateur Trapshooting Association, was the manager of the Remington Gun Club in Lordship until its closing in 1986, and then became part of Remingtons Shooting Promotion and Marketing Department representing the company at all major shoots throughout the country. He participated annually in partner trap shoots such as the Grand American at which he won back-to-back Grand American Industry Championships, a feat not previously achieved by any other shooter. In 1991 Amerigo won the Industry Clay Target Championship at the Grand American, the most prestigious of all Grand American Events. At the time of his induction, he had shot in excess of 320,000 registered targets in his illustrious career. In 1996, Amerigo was inducted to the Connecticut Trapshooting Hall of Fame. Amerigo was also passionate about his soccer with Inter Milan being his favorite team. Upon his arrival in the United States in 1949, he immediately began seeking out local soccer clubs. He played soccer at a professional level for the Italian Community Center, Bridgeport City of the Connecticut Soccer League, Vasco da Gama, the Swedish Athletic Club and Schwaben Hall. Survivors include his beloved wife of fifty four years, Pasqualina (Pat) Labagnara Pagliaroli, a daughter Rosemary Pagliaroli Collins and her husband, Attorney Kevin F. Collins of Easton, three grandchildren, Caitlin (Kit), Kevin Amerigo, and Cassandra Collins of Easton, three devoted sisters and brothers-in-law, Angelina and Remo Pagliarella, Emma and Adelmo Lia, of Stratford and Sue and Phil Ferrari of Trumbull. He is also survived by many beloved nephews and nieces. Amerigo was pre-deceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Ida and Enrico Cristini, his nephew, John Lia and his great-niece, Patricia Cristini. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St. Trumbull, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery, Easton.
