Obituary of Marie A. Mondo

Marie A. Mondo, age 72, of Bridgeport, devoted wife of Frank Mondo and loving mom of Philip Mondo, died on Monday, May 4, 2009 at her residence with her family by her side. Born in Bridgeport on June 29, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Vincent T. and Marie A. Walters Ganung. Marie was a graduate of Sts. Cyril and Methodius High School. She was an administrative assistant in the Office of Admissions at Fairfield University for many years. Marie had a magnificent quick wit and sharp sense of humor which always brought a chuckle and sometimes roaring laughter to all who knew her. She was modest about her incredible countless homespun talents. She had a remarkable natural ability to cultivate a spectacular array of flowers and exotic plants-the fragrance from her gardenias is unforgettable. She had a passion for cooking and each and every dish in itself was a culinary delight. She had a flair for creating new recipes and visitors to her home could always expect a tantalizing treat. She was pre-deceased by brothers, Vincent J., Clinton T. and Gerard Ganung. In addition to her husband and son, she is survived by her sister Patricia L. Walsh and her husband James of Minnesota and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Gone but not forgotten, although we are apart, your spirit lives within us, forever in our hearts. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport, on Friday, May, 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
