Obituary of Paul J. Moyher Jr.

Paul J. Moyher, Jr., age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Mariann (Kwolek) Moyher for over 42 years. Born in Bridgeport in 1943, he was the son of the late Paul J. Moyher, Sr. and Louise (Ventulett) Moyher. He was a longtime resident of the Huntington section of Shelton.

Mr. Moyher held a bachelor's degree in Business from the University of Bridgeport. In the early part of his career, he was a human resources specialist for the Norden Corporation in Norwalk. For the next 35 years, Mr. Moyher enjoyed working as the Human Resources Manager for the BIC Corporation in Milford, and then later in Shelton, CT.

He was a devout practicing Catholic and loved his faith. He has been an active parishioner of St. Lawrence for over 50 years. Along with his wife Mariann, Mr. Moyher led Pre-Cana Conference events for 25 years in the Diocese of Bridgeport.

Mr. Moyher truly loved spending time with his family both locally, and at his second home in Mumford Cove, Groton where he enjoyed boating excursions, biking, long walks along the water, and special extended family weekends. He was a devoted husband, father, and Pop and will be forever missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his cherished daughter and son-in-law, Deenna and Jim Nealon of Trumbull; three treasured grandchildren, Jimmy and his wife, Emily, Dave, and Kaitlin Nealon; and a great-grandson, whom he adored. He was pre-deceased by his beloved son, Paul Moyher, III of Groton Long Point.

Mr. Moyher was an extremely talented gardener and owned one of the largest home vegetable gardens in the area. He grew an abundance of vegetables and fruits and generously shared his harvest with family and friends. With his family, he canned and preserved foods to enjoy throughout the coming year. It was while diligently working in this garden, that he experienced tremendous joy and fulfillment. He shared his knowledge and skills with his family, and tending the land together each year became a multigenerational tradition.

He was devoted to serving others and made anonymous donations to a plethora of charities. He was never idle and loved being busy and productive. His generosity of self and spirit will live on in the hearts of all whom he helped. He was a man of tremendous integrity, quiet strength, and humility. There was nothing he would not do to help others.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, August 31st from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
