Obituary of Richard J. LaVelle
Richard J. LaVelle, age 66, of Trumbull passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, October 27, 2025. Born in Queens, New York on December 13, 1958, he was a son of the late Henry and Mildred (Jaeger) LaVelle.
Richard was employed at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford with over 40 years of dedicated service and worked his way to crew chief at his retirement. He worked on various projects but was most proud to have been chosen to work on the presidential helicopters. He was devoted to his faith and an active parishioner at St. Stephen Church in Trumbull. He had many friends that he kept in contact with and looked forward to lunch on Friday afternoons at Outback with the guys from Sikorsky. He was outgoing, generous to all and would help anyone in need and there was never a bad word to say about him. He was anxiously awaiting his December wedding to Lucille, and looking forward to their life together. He loved her family as his own and enjoyed being called "Grandpa".
In addition to his fiancé, Lucille Ramirez, he also leaves a brother, Robert LaVelle and his wife Donna of Florida.
