Obituary of Dr. Yogesh Mehrotra
Dr. Yogesh Mehrotra, age 74, of Monroe, CT, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Dr. Mehrotra is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Patrice Green Mehrotra, and his three loving children - Salil Mehrotra and his wife Courtney Mehrotra, Rajeev Mehrotra and his wife Dr. Jasmine Huang, and Sarah Mehrotra and her husband Virat Gupta - and his cherished granddaughter Annabelle Mehrotra.
Dr. Mehrotra was born on October 24, 1950, in Lucknow, India, the son of the late Raghunath and Shanti Kapoor Mehrotra. After graduating from India Institute of Technology Kanpur, he immigrated to the United States in 1975, and went on to earn an MBA and a Ph.D. in materials science. After moving to Connecticut, he founded his own research company, Materials Technologies Corporation, in 1987, where he made significant and lasting contributions to the fields of aerospace and national security through multiple patent-holding innovations. In 2000, Dr. Mehrotra became a United States citizen.
Throughout his life, Dr. Mehrotra embodied integrity, intellectual curiosity, and selflessness. He had an exceptional ability to forge meaningful connections with everyone he met, from close family and friends to strangers. His humor, generosity of spirit, and genuine love for others was evident in all his endeavors, personal and professional. Dr. Mehrotra was a devout Hindu, and his faith was central to his character, belief system, and way of life throughout his years. He was also a fierce believer in the power of education, and donated to several education and literacy charities, including the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation, which funds education for children in rural villages across India.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor Dr. Mehrotra's life and greet his family on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, CT. The service will begin with a Hindu puja at 9:30 am. Interment will be private.
The family extends its sincere gratitude to the staff at the Medical ICU at Bridgeport Hospital for their devoted care and compassion.
